Obituaries

It is with extreme sorrow that the family of Louisa Gardiner announce her
passing in Kelowna on August 19, 2016 at the age of 88 years.

She is survived by two daughters, Sherida Gregoire of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, and Melleny ( John ) Yost of Kelowna BC; three grand children, Lona ( Mike )Finney, Anita ( Dan ) Merlo, and Shawn Calvert; two great grandchildren; three sisters and one brother. She is predeceased by her youngest daughter, Annalea Weller in 1993. Louisa grew up on a homestead near Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, the third of seven children. After being a farm wife for many years she entered into the field of nursing at age 38 where she enjoyed working as a Registered Nurse in various capacities and doing an Adventist mission trip for two years in Zambia, Africa which was the joy of her life. Upon her return to Canada, she became an avid gardener. In 2009, and requiring more personal care, she moved to Kelowna, BC to be closer to her middle daughter, Melleny, who has followed her mother's profession in the nursing field. Since 2012 she had resided at Brookhaven Care Centre until her passing.
A celebration of Louisa's life will be held at Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1910 Windsor Road,Kelowna on Thursday August 25 at 1PM with Pastor Jim Wier from the Kelowna Seventh Day Adventist church officiating. Private family inurnment in Edmonton will follow at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to ADRA ( Adventist Development and Relief Agency) c/o Kelowna Seventh Day Adventist Church or the charity of one's choice.
