GANDY, William

GANDY, William

William (Bill) George Gandy. 1938-2017
It is with great sadness that on July 30th, 2017, we announce the passing of a
husband and best friend, a dad, father and coach, a poppa and great poppa and
one of the most caring and intelligent individuals who has made everyone he
touched a better person.
Bill was born September 15th, 1938 in Victoria, British Columbia to the proud
parents of George and Myrtle Gandy and big brother to his sister Beverly Gandy
(Ivatts). Married on July 2nd, 1960 to Sylvia Gandy (Wagg), then father to Alan,
Donnie and Brian Gandy, Bill went on to hold the prestige accomplishment of
being one of British Columbia's Land Title Registrars until retirement.
Bill loved to spend his early retirement years puttering around the family cabin at
Cluculz Lake and trolling back and forth across the mouth of the creek knowing
he was going to get another bite!! Having his retirement taken away through a
disabling stroke, Bill joined support groups in Prince George before moving to
Kelowna in 2003 where he became an active participant at the May Bennett
stroke club sharing his wit and joke telling abilities.
Survived by his wife and best friend Sylvia Gandy, boys Al Gandy (Meghan Lea),
Don Gandy (Renay Gandy) and Brian Gandy (Jane Gandy), grandchildren Jodi
Gandy (Jamie Taylor), Kayla Gandy (Travis Bailey), Josh Gandy, Jake Gandy (Julie
Gandy), Ashley Gandy, Kari-Ann Gandy and Brett Gandy. Great grandchildren
Rylan Davis, Connor Taylor, Lucas Gandy, Carter Bailey, Kari and Casey Bailey, and
his sister Bev Ivatts.
The days move forward even when faced with life's challenges, but we can all take
comfort in knowing Bill, Dad, Poppa and Great Poppa loved us unconditionally
and spent a lifetime being our positive role model and teaching us what was right
and what was wrong.
You will always be missed, never forgotten and forever loved and you leave this
earth a better place than when you came here.
We Love You!!!
A private family service will be held and in leu of flowers we would appreciate
donations made to your local stroke club.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.firstmemorialfuneralkelowna.com. Arrangements entrusted with First Memorial Funeral Services, Kelowna, BC 250-762-2299

    Sylvia and family

I worked and played with Bill at the Adult Day program at May Bennett Wellness Centre, for the several years he attended, I am so glad I was able to visit with Bill that Friday afternoon before he passed. We talked and I was able to sing two songs he was well familiar with "You Are My Sunshine", and "Amazing Grace". On behalf of all the Adult Day program staff, Bill we loved you, every part of you! Bless you sylvia.

    Sincerely TeenaG

A true gentleman; funny, kind and generous, with his beautiful soulmate, Sylvia at his side, Bill was a ray of sunshine in everyone's lives....I had the privilege of sharing part of their life for a short period of time and have never forgotten his quick wit and wry sense of humour about life. His obituary speaks for itself, an amazing man..an amazing couple...take care Sylvia
