FRIESEN, Bill

FRIESEN, Bill

After a short and courageous battle with cancer, Bill (William/Wilhelm) Friesen, age 83, was reunited with the love of his life and wife of 60 years, Alvina (nee Klippenstein), in the presence of their Lord and Savior, on June 1, 2017.

Bill was also predeceased, by his parents John and Agnes; brother Henry and sister-in-law Violet; sister Anne and brother-in-law Henry as well as their daughter Phyllis. He is survived by his daughter Valorie (Alvin); sons Brent and Blair; grandchildren Shevon (Jamy), Shaylene (Tyler) and Ryan. Bill will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, and coffee buddies.

Most of Bill's working life was spent building or installing kitchen cabinets, until he finally retired at the age of 76.

To relax, Bill loved to go for drives, learn about history, take things apart and then put them back together. He loved building, fixing and even inventing. In the last few years, you may have seen Bill walking laps at the local Walmart, or enjoying a coffee with Alvina at McDonald's.

Most of last year, Bill patiently and lovingly cared for Alvina until her passing at the end of 2016.

A joint memorial will be held for Bill and Alvina in their home province of Manitoba in the summer.

Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com, 250-860-7077.

We always enjoyed being in the company of Bill and Alvina. Now they are together again after 5 &1/2 months of being apart. We all miss them very much. It was wonderful to see everyone out to celebrate their lives last Saturday and to see Blair, Brent, Valorie and her hubby, Alvin and all the friends. We will never forget your Mom and Dad.

I was one of Bill's coffee buddies and I will really miss him a lot. He and Alvina always spoke proudly about their kids, Blair in Vancouver, Val the school principal, and "Hoss" in rural Manitoba. I hope you are consoled in knowing that your parents are together again. I miss them both as well but Bill is now at peace again with his wife by his side. It was good to see you all last Saturday as we paid our respect to your Father and the significant role he played in our lives.
