FRANK, Pastor Otto - Went to be with the Lord on May 1, 2008 at the age of 98.
Survived by his loving wife of 68 years Agnes; son Waldemar and daughter Renée, as well as sisters: Lucy (Hans) Krueger, Genie Zenke and sister-in-law Erna Duering and many nieces and nephews.
Otto was born July 18, 1909 in Brzozowice, Poland, of German Lutheran parents. Raised in Pukinin, and later studied theology in nearby Warsaw. Became a pastor in 1936, serving in Luck, Wolhynia, until the outbreak of WWII. Married Agnes Bisanz October 29, 1939, in 1945 forced to flee with infant son in a horse-drawn covered wagon to Germany. Served congregations in northern Germany until 1952, when the family immigrated to Canada, arriving in Winnipeg. Studied at LTS Saskatoon, served in Millet, then Golden Spike, AB, when daughter Renée was born. He also served Lutheran congregations in Saskatchewan, and BC and finally Hay Lakes, Alberta, until retiring to Winfield in 1974 to own and operate an orchard with son Waldemar. Active at Christ Lutheran Church, and passionate about fishing and gardening.
Sadly predeceased by sisters Elsa and Olga and brothers Adolf and Theodor.
A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, May 12, 2008 at 10:00 am Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2091 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC with interment to follow in the Lakeview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the church or the Canadian Wildlife Federation.
A gift in living memory of Pastor Frank will be made to “Hospice Care” by Springfield Funeral Home.
