FRANCHINI, Walter

FRANCHINI, Walter

Passed away on Sunday May 14th at the age of 86. He was born to the late Romeo and Ida Franchini on November 14th, 1930 in Maranello Italy. He met his loving wife, the late Celestina Poles while working in Switzerland, and they then married in her home town of Vigonovo on Boxing day in 1954. They immigrated to Canada and lived in Edmonton before relocating to Kelowna in 1968. Walters occupation as a Barber connected him with many of the residents of Kelowna. You could not go on a walk through town without several people stopping him to talk. He will be missed dearly by his family and many friends.

Walter is survived by his children Jeff of Burnaby BC, and Debbie of Kelowna BC. He is also survived by his granddaughter and great-grandsons, Zoe (Lance), Blaine, and Macen. Walter is also survived by his brother-in-law, nephews, and niece Severino Poles, Sandro, Sergio, Stefano, Silvio, and Lory of Edmonton, as well as his Sister Iole and family, his late brother Renato's family, and Celestina's family.

A service will be held at St Pius X Catholic Church on Saturday May 27th at 11 am. Reception to follow at the Kelowna Bocce Club 2340 Aberdeen St.

Arrangements in care of Everden Rust Funeral Services, (250) 860-6440.

    Debbie and family,

Sorry to hear of Dad's passing. May he now rest in piece with your Mom. Although I didn't know him for very long, I will always remember his smile and "oh yah" to most things I said to him, when visiting at Cottonwoods, Ethel Glen, even though I wasn't speaking Italian and I'm sure he had no idea what I was saying. Take care.

Walter was my barber for many years and I always enjoyed our great conversations and discussions. He was very loyal to the Italian community group and I am sure all his friends there will greatly miss him.

    Rest in Peace Walter.

Walter was a man who enjoyed people and always had the time to talk to younger people and had respect for all the people who he had come in contact with. He was very proud of his Italian heritage.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
