FIGURA, Hans Dieter - Loving husband, father and Opa, Hans Dieter passed away on Friday, September 2nd, 2011 after a courageous battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease).

Survived by his loving wife Marianne of 50 years; sons, Jurgen (Cathy) and Eckart (Tammy); grandchildren, Garrett, Madeleine, Kimberly, Kelsey, Mitchell and Matthew.

Hans was born in Wittenberg, Germany on March 22, 1938. As a young man he travelled to Africa, and spent several years working at a mission in the Belgian Congo before returning to Germany where he met and married Marianne. In 1969, Hans made the decision to immigrate to Canada to seek a better life with more opportunity for his family and came directly to Kelowna. Hans was passionate about hunting and fishing and took every opportunity to explore the great Canadian outdoors.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at St. Charles Garnier Church, 3665 Benvoulin Ave, Kelowna.
