ESIK, Maria - Passed away suddenly on March 6, 2011 at the age of 78.

Survived by her loving husband of 54 years Mike Esik. Her daughters Susie (Cam) Heslep, Kelsey, and Judi (Pat) Morrison, Russell, Rielle, and her Son Michael Esik, Quinn and Simon.

Born in Vac Hungary, Maria moved to Canada in 1957. She met the love of her life in Edmonton Alberta, and married shortly after. She was very instrumental and supportive in her husband’s success with his company Almac Machine Works. Together they traveled the world and raised their three children in a loving home. Maria was extremely active in the Hungarian community as President of the Hungarian Cultural Society in Edmonton. She was also the editor of the Toborzo Magazine for many years. This spread to many other articles, and art being published throughout her life. Maria enjoyed being a Nana, and spent as much time as she could with her grandchildren, they have countless memories of her imaginative ways of sharing her love. A gem as a hostess, anyone in her life felt exceptional love as a guest either in her home, or as a part of her social groups. Maria and Mike retired to the Okanagan in 1995 where another branch of her life opened up and she found even more outlets for her passion. She shone brightly in our lives and will continue to shine in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held Friday, March 11, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.
