ELLIOTT, Marion Frances

ELLIOTT, Marion Frances

Marion Frances Elliott, beloved mother and Nana, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday, January 8th, 2019. Born on December 23rd, 1928 in Battleford, Saskatchewan to Ivan and Rosie Corrigal. She was the youngest of four children. In 1949 she married her husband Jim. They had three sons and lived in Herschel, Battleford and North Battleford. In 1970 the family moved to the Okanagan and settled in Peachland. Jim loved their new home and set to work building the “Castle on the Rock”. Marion was not so sure. Her love of Saskatchewan and the prairie never left her and she could have moved ‘home’ anytime. Marion worked for SaskTel, BC Tel and Haworth Jewellers. Jim and Marion retired to spend several years hosting visits from family and friends and enjoying the fruits of the Okanagan. When Jim passed in 1997, Marion moved to a beautiful condo in Westbank and became the center of a large group of friends. She will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. Family was everything to Marion and her telephone was her connection to relatives and friends near and far.

Marion is predeceased by all her siblings and their spouses. Eileen (Jerry), Gwen (Jim), and Allan (Laurie). By her beloved husband Jim of 49 years, her youngest son, Gerry, her daughter-in-laws Cathy and Carolynn. She is survived by her sons Jim (Karen), Norm (Cindy) and her daughter-in-law Barb (Al). Five grandchildren, Krista, Jim(Sabrina), Kristy, Andy and Becky(Mike). Six great grandchildren, Tyson, Travis, Evan, Cyan, Carissa Alyssa and another expected in April.

Please help us celebrate Marion’s life on June 1st, 2019 in the clubhouse at Montecello at 3880 Brown Road in West Kelowna.

My family lived next door to Jim and Marion in Peachland for 15 years and the best, most caring and sharing neighbours you could ever ask for. Marion was like a second mom to me and grandma to my two daughters Erika and Sarah. She will greatly missed by us and it was a great honor to have known her. We are very sad for her loss and our thoughts and prayers to Jim, Norm and the rest of the Elliott family. I will cherish my memories forever of a great lady.

I only knew Marion a few short years, but she left an everlasting impression with me. Never would a visit be without laughter. Always up for a chat about hockey or football. A die hard Saskatchewan Roughriders fan. Loved the prairies. She was the sweetest lady on earth.

Marian lived a life touching other people with her kindness. We had a special bond because I grew up near Battleford and we knew many people as mutual friends.
She found treasures in thrift shops for me over the years. She seemed always to be thinking of others. She was eternally optimistic and only saw the good in others. She was truly a special person and friend and neighbor for 20 years.
