ELLIOT, George

ELLIOT, George

We are sad to announce the passing of George Alan Elliot on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017. Alan was born in Kelowna in 1925, the son of George Elliot and Dolly (nee Monford). Alan will be dearly missed by his family: son David (Audrey), grandchildren Sandra Zahara (Randy), Neil Porter, Becky McNeil (Brian), Aaron Elliot (Miranda), Jillian Garrison (David) and 13 great grandchildren, Chad (Phaelan) Zahara, Stephanie (Torin McLachlan) Zahara, Matthew Porter, Nikolas, Caileigh, Jakob, Emily & Ethan McNeil, Amira, Avery, Aria Elliot, Ellison, Ada Garrison and by numerous nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his daughter Sharon Porter in 1986 and his wife, Bea, of 62 years in 2010 and his brother Doug Elliot. Alan was a terrific role model, loved his family deeply and generously supported them in their pursuits and his sage advice was a boon to all. He was actively involved in the community, held leadership positions in a number of clubs and organizations and had a very successful real estate and development career. He spent his early years in Winfield having his father, George Elliot, as his teacher for grades 5 through 8. He transferred to Rutland for high school but left in Gr. 12 to join the army in 1943. Luckily, the war ended before his troop was deployed overseas. He was a good athlete and avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and helped start the Oceola Fish and Game Club. In the late 1960

    Dave, Audrey and family

We are so sorry to hear of your dad's passing. We were at a Christmas gathering in the old neighbourhood and were just told the news. We first met your parents when we purchased our property on Monford road. He was such a kind and gentle man. He was a great conversationalist. Such a lovely man...may he rest in peace with the love of his life, Bea. .Don and Sharon Clark

My condolences to the family. I remember the good old days back at Royal Trust Real Estate when Alan and Sandy were both there. Alan's old gang have been gone a while but I often got to say hello Friday at lunch at the KGCC - even up til a couple weeks ago.

    A true gentleman.

David, Sandra and families, my sincere condolences on the passing of your Dad/Grandfather. I first met Alan in 1982 when I joined Royal Trust Real Estate in Kelowna. I was wet behind the ears as a 22 year old new agent. Alan was one that I looked up to as a role model. He was quiet, honest, likable and a real gentleman. We played golf numerous times together. He had a silky smooth putting stoke. He will be missed.

    Dave and Audrey...

So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. All us "young" seniors at KGCC marvelled at his still playing golf into his nineties, and vowed to be just like him. He will be missed.

    Dave and family,

So sorry for your loss - your Dad was a very special person - I last saw your Dad on the 23rd in KGH. I had just had surgery and was on my way to my room and ran into your Dad - we had a short visit - one which I will always cherish. He was the best - gave me my first real job at Lakeshore Inn. I will of course, miss him at the golf club.

I was blessed to know Alan, Bea, Sharon and David as a teenager employed during the summers at their lakeshore cafe and service station. Many years later we still would meet occasionally and they were always enjoying life. Truly Alan was the kindest man I knew.

    My sincerest condolences,

    Mona Sauer (nee Porter)

    Dave and Audrey,

Your Dad was a true gentleman in every sense. He always had time to talk sports, politics, business or life in general. He always wanted to know how our family was doing and how the girls were doing in their educational pursuits. An amazing historian with an amazing recall of dates, events and pioneers of the North Okanagan areas. He will be missed by us all.
