DURRELL, Floyd
DURRELL, Floyd

Durrell, Floyd - With heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of Floyd H. Durrell on April 19, 2011, at the age of 85, just a week short of his 86th birthday.

Floyd was predeceased by his loving wife Trudy in 2007 and is survived by his children, Roy, Grant, Glen(Cathi), foster son Joseph and three grandchildren Marshall, Ava and Liam.

Floyd was born April 27,1925 in Sintaluta, Saskatchewan to Cora and William Durrell. He was one of four boys and the twin of his brother Lloyd. At 17, Floyd joined the Canadian Forces and fought in WWII in Holland. After the war Floyd resided in Scotland for several years before beginning his training in the medical field. Floyd’s career as a respiratory therapist started in Calgary and in 1969 he moved the family to Kelowna to open the new respiratory department at KGH. His years at the hospital allowed Floyd to build many friendships with colleagues and patients alike. Floyd was an avid reader and gardener, and could often be found whistling and enjoying the fresh air in his yard. His kindness, wit and smiling face will be dearly missed by all.

In lieu of flowers, please consider an act of kindness by paying a good dead forward in Floyd’s memory.

A celebration of Floyd‘s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 28 at Everden Rust Funeral Services, 1910 Windsor Road, Kelowna. Reception to follow.
