DUNBAR, John Paton

DUNBAR, John Paton Sunrise: 08-29-27 Sunset: 09-05-11 John was born in Regina SK, August 29th, 1927 and spent his early childhood in Elkhorn, Manitoba. His family moved to Vancouver in 1938 where he finished his schooling and launched into his career as a radio operator and air traffic controller with the Canadian Armed Forces. While in service in the RCAF John made many locations in Canada home over his lifetime with his loving wife Mary whom he married in 1949 in Cranbrook, and four Sons. He semi retired to Kelowna in 1973 and was active in the RCAF Association and the BC Schizophrenic Society. John passed away peacefully on Sept. 5th at the Kelowna General Hospital. He is survived by his loving wife Mary, Son Jay - wife Swan, granddaughter Sonya & husband Andrew, great grandsons Kaden, and Nathan, and grandson Danny; Son Tim - granddaughter Valerie Joy; Son Dan, Rose, granddaughter Amy and Noah; Son Michael and grandson Glenn; and his sisters Margaret Kersey of Langley, BC; Millicent MacCormack of Halifax, NS; and Mary Janzen of Kelowna, BC, and their families. A service celebrating John’s life was held Sat. Sept. 10th at 2:30 pm at the Benvolin Heritage Church, located at 2279 Benvolin Rd, Kelowna. In lieu of flowers a donation to the BC Schizophrenic Society would be appreciated. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family c/o www.hansonsfuneral.com
