DOEKSEN, Bessie

DOEKSEN: Bessie passed away at home on Saturday, May 27th, 2017 at the age of 92. Bessie was born and raised in Kelowna. She was active in many community organizations including First United Church, Kiwanis, the Historical Society and she coordinated the Meals on Wheels Program for many years. In later years she enjoyed time with family and friends and her dog Tiki. She is predeceased by her husband Rijn. Bessie is survived by her nieces Wendy, Megan and Sarah McGuire, nephews Douglas (Gail) Gordon, Randy Gordon of Kelowna, Rick (Melinda) Ott of Vancouver, Jim Lowen of Vernon, Ken Lowen of Summerland; sister-in-law Mavis Holden of Kelowna and brother in-law Gerry (Helen) of Kelowna. I was saddened to read of Bessie's passing. She was a wonderful lady who contributed so much to our community. Through her volunteering in Kiwanis, First United, and so many other programs, Kelowna was enriched and blessed by her kindness and generosity.

Although we knew Bessie for only a year, we will remember her as a very kind & caring person. We miss her & our condolences go out to her family.

Bessie and Rijn belonged to a CB Club my Grandma Evelyn Pattison belonged to and were friends with both Rijn and Bessie. I had the honour and opportunity to meet both of them. Bessie was a very nice ,kind lady I took an instant liking to this beautiful lady. My condolences to her family. Sandi Freier Giddings

So sorry to hear about A. B. she was such a wonderful person. I will miss her. We always had a very nice visit when I was in Kelowna. I was hoping she would have been around for our 50th as she had made our wedding cake. God Bless you all in your loss.
