1930 - 2013

Gysbertus (George) De Haan was born on June 6, 1930 in Ouderkerk, The Netherlands, just south of Amsterdam and died on April 7, 2013. He came to Edmonton in 1952, where he met and married Anne in 1958. They were blessed with two children. George worked many years for U.G.G. in Edmonton, before relocating to Delta, BC in 1970. He then worked in Richmond and Vancouver for Canada Safeway before retiring to West Kelowna in 1993. George was a dedicated and hard worker in whatever he did. His special hobby was gardening and he loved his beautiful flowers. Faith and trust in his Lord and Saviour sustained him throughout his life. He loved to be with family and friends and his sense of humour will be remembered. George leaves behind his wife Anne; son Ron (Shawna) De Haan of Delta, BC; daughter Joanne (Garnet) Arsenault of West Kelowna; five grandchildren: Kyle, Sheianne, Sara (Matt), Shae and Melissa; two sisters: Helen Haarsma of Burlington, Washington and Susan Van Spyker of Edmonton; numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three brothers: Henry, Jerry and Pete De Haan; two sisters: Trudy Greidanus and Freda Emmelkamp. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm at the Kelowna Christian Reformed Church, 239 Snowsell St., Kelowna, BC, with Pastor Nick Bierma officiating.
