DANALLANKO, Arthur - It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Arthur Danallanko on September 24, 2011 at his residence in Armstrong, BC at the age of 87 years.

Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his four daughters Shirley-Ann (Burt) Asay of Salmon Arm, BC; Linda (Rick) Aspinall of Vanderhoof, BC; Wendy (John) Schrauwen of Armstrong, BC; and Becky (Norm) Leister of Kelowna, BC and his sister-in-law Genevieve Culling of Armstrong, BC. He will further be missed by his nine grandchildren; Kara (Pat) Aylard, Todd (Tamara) Asay, Burke Asay, Chet (Candace) Aspinall, Creg (Lauren) Aspinall, Pamela (Josh) Flumerfelt, Mike (Jamie) Schrauwen, Morgan (Brock) Ingram, and Erin (Chris) Mitchell as well as 17 great-grandchildren and many friends. Arthur was predeceased by his wife Shirley in 1995 and grandson Chad Asay. He was the last member of his family, predeceased by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.

Arthur was born in Consort, AB to Samuel and Anna Danallanko. He was a life long resident of Armstrong and served his community well as an Alderman for many years. In his younger years, Arthur enjoyed hockey, high jumping, and was the last of the original lacrosse players of the Armstrong Shamrocks. He also enjoyed the arts and was a fantastic painter, played the banjo, and sang baritone. His quiet time was spent fishing. Arthur served with the Royal Canadian Air Force overseas during the Second World War. He was an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Armstrong Branch #35 and headed up the poppy campaign for a number of years. Arthur was also active with the Kinsmen Club and the Masonic Lodge Spallumcheen Branch #13 AF & AM.

Cremation.

The urn will be interred at 10:00 am on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Armstrong / Spallumcheen Cemetery (4320 Highland Park Road, Spallumcheen BC) in the family plot. The Memorial Service to be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Chapel of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services (2980 Smith Drive, Armstrong BC). Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 35 (2526 Pleasant Valley Blvd, Armstrong BC). Reverend Ted Roworth officiating.

Those who wish to do so, may make a donation in Arthur's memory to the Royal Canadian Legion Armstrong Branch #35 (PO Box 97, Armstrong BC V0E 1B0) or to the Salvation Army (3833 Henning Drive, Burnaby, BC V5C 6N5).
