COCKIN, Alyce Marie ( nee Lennon) died November, 2009.

Born Midway B.C. Jan. 18, 1933 to Thomas Corvan Lennon & Alexina Elizabeth Gidon of Greenwood B.C. Eldest of 4 siblings Thomas Jr., Evelyn Lennon & Ann Kalynchuk. Married James Thomas Cockin (deceased 1990) in 1962 in Vancouver B.C. at St. Patrick's Church.

Survived by children; Suzanne, & Ron (aka Favorite son-in-law) Le Stage, Jason Cockin & Mathew Cockin. Grandchildren; Tasmine Jacks, Brent Cockin, Haylie Cockin, Kali Le Stage, Chantelle Le Stage & Cody Rennie.

Alyce was a graduate of St. Patrick's High school in Vancouver in 1951. She later attended Sprott Shaw School of Business in 1952. Alyce's dream of becoming a nurse was fulfilled when she graduated from St. Joseph's School of nursing in 1959. While raising her children in Errington B.C. Alyce was the president of the PTA at Errington Elementary School 1973-74. She also taught first aid to students, teachers, firefighters, and ambulance attendants. This devotion to people's safety resulted in Alyce receiving a Commendation of Merit in 1978 from St. John's Ambulance. Later in 1983 the Order of Serving Sister of St. John's Ambulance was awarded to her by Governor General Ed Shreyer. From 1979-1985 Alyce was employed at Arrowsmith Lodge in Parksville as a nurse. While working full time and raising three children she acquired her graduate diploma in Long Term Care Management in 1985. Later Alyce moved to Maple Ridge and became the Director of Resident Care at Golden Ears Retirement Centre until she retired in May 1996. Alyce was an avid gardener who found great enjoyment making our world beautiful with flowers. Her needlepoint remains as a testament to the talent she had with embroidery and the gifts of which she bestowed upon her children and grandchildren. Never one to sit still to long, world travels were of great pleasure to Alyce as she explored our world on various tours & cruises. Mom wrote before her departure, "I am proud to have raised three wonderful children to responsible, talented, loving individuals (without question or exaggeration!!). A lover of dogs, Misty, Tonya, Daisy, Shandy, Puss-Puss (the cat) and Bridget (the cow).

I am obligated to faithful caring friends and special angels Judi and Doug for their wonderful love and friendship.
