CASSIN, Douglas Cameron - A long time resident, passed away at Brookhaven Care Centre in West Kelowna, on Saturday, June 11, 2011, following a lengthy illness, at 92 years of age.

Doug was born on the family farm at Waskada, Manitoba, on May 27, 1919, to parents Robert and Minerva. He later served in the Canadian Army from 1940 - 1945, seeing six years of service overseas, and was wounded. Doug met his future bride while both of them were in the service, and on May 6, 1946, Doug married Rita Gordey in Dophin, Manitoba. It was a wonderful marriage that lasted more than 65 years.

Doug will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Rita of West Kelowna, 3 sons; Trent (Connie) of Gravenhurst, Ontario, Dale of West Kelowna, BC and Dennis (Carol) of Comox, BC, 2 granddaughters; Kris of West Kelowna and Tannis of Bracebridge, Ontario, as well as 2 great grandchildren, Conner and Paige of Bracebridge. He has been predeceased by his 3 brothers; Clayton, Nelson and Lorne.

Amongst his other interests, Doug will be fondly remembered for being a real 'sports fan' particularly of baseball and hockey. He was a real Canucks fan!
