BROWN, Marlon Dean

BROWN, Marlon Dean

It is with deep sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Marlon Dean Brown, at age 42, of Kelowna, BC. He died of a rare medical condition, Amyloidosis, on Saturday, October 20, 2012.

He was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on July 4, 1970 to Elizabeth (Tom) Brown and Ray Bueckert. Marlon graduated with his art and education degrees, followed by a Masters degree.

Marlon was a dedicated school teacher. He taught art, physical education and science. He was very involved with his students and did many extra curriculum activities. He loved being with his students and mentored them to success in Science Fairs across Canada, including one trip to Asia. He had a passion for golf, kayaking, volleyball, water sports and a love for the outdoors. He indulged his passions by wilderness camping, ocean kayaking, water sports, the mountains, and enjoying all the physical challenges that were accessible to him at his cabin in the Shuswaps. Marlon challenged speed by snowboarding, jetskiing and motorbiking. He was a born artist and artistically expressed himself using watercolour, oils and charcoal. He had a unique artistic flair which impressed and inspired his audience.

Marlon is survived and grieved by his partner, Darla-Rae Jenic, his parents, Elizabeth and Tom Brown, his grandmother, Elizabeth Thiessen, sisters, Delynn (Glen) Mochar, LeeAnn (Joey) Dellaire, and his nieces, Kyanna and Hayley and nephews, Rheese and Brett. Marlon loved going to work every day, as he thrived on the camaraderie and energy from within the school which stemmed from his fellow teachers, students, secretaries, teachers' assistants and custodians. He is fondly remembered by Daphne Brown, Ray Bueckert, aunts, uncles, cousins, many special friends, and canine companions.
The family is requesting that donations be made to Dr. Knox Middle School Legacy Foundation.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Springfield Funeral Home.

Psalm 23:
The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
forever.
