On Monday, October 2nd, 2017 Lyle Berg of Osoyoos, British Columbia passed away peacefully in his sleep after a brief illness of heart disease. He will be lovingly remembered by Olive, his wife of 68 years, daughter Beverley Rogan, sons Gary (Chris) Berg and Geoffrey Carole) Berg, as well as his granddaughters Kerri Rogan (Mitesh), Jennifer (Stephan) Rodousakis and Nicole (Travis) Parker, great granddaughters Stella and Alexia Rodousakis. Also by many nieces and nephews.
Lyle led a full and productive life. He grew up on the family dairy farm at the Okanagan Landing in Vernon. In his early 20's him and his friend, Jamie Massey, purchased a piece of land at six mile Creek and built a cattle ranch. It was here that he took his young bride Olive and raised his family. In 1969 he sold the ranch and moved to Vernon. He found he wasn't ready for retirement and purchased a convenience store in the Coldstream area. After a couple of years he went to work for Kelly Douglas in Vernon, later selling the store and transferring to Kelly Douglas in Nanaimo in 1978 and finally retiring in 1986. Lyle enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outdoors.
Him and his wife Olive spent many happy years as Snowbirds travelling south in their motor home. They moved to Osoyoos in 1990 where they remained.
Lyle is best known for his love of family and will be sadly missed by all.
Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017 at Pleasant Valley Dignity Funeral Home in Vernon with a light lunch to follow.
