BEEBE, Paul Gray

BEEBE, Paul Gray - At age 87 years left his weary body behind and took flight on May 6, 2008.

Paul was born the 9th of February 1921 in Boise, Idaho, moved to Port Arthur, Ontario in 1922 with his family and traveled frequently to the Beebe homestead in Bruce, Wisconsin.

In 1939 Paul enlisted with 4th Field Ambulance and was shipped overseas. He saw duty in England, France and Italy. He was wounded in Italy and spent the last of the war in a POW camp outside of Munich, Germany.
While in England, he met and married his Irish sweetheart, Mary Chambers. After the war Paul operated a reputable painting and decorating business in Fort William. He was an avid sportsman, a member of the Lakehead Fish & Game Association, the Thunder Bay Revolver Club and Ducks Unlimited.
Paul and Mary moved to BC in 1968 where Paul again operated a successful painting and decorating business in Kelowna. He joined Search and Rescue in 1975. He was a member of the Snowmobile Club and helped build the Greystokes Lodge.

Always a keen fisherman, he discovered a passion for deep sea fishing and moved to Bowser in 1980 where he lived until his health began to fail in 2004. He has been lovingly looked after by the staff at Brookhaven Care Centre.

Paul is predeceased by his parents, Earl and Phyllis Beebe, his sons, Barry in England and Earl in Thunder Bay, his brothers, Eugene, Calvin and Allan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary, his brothers, Dustin in Thunder Bay and Arnold (Noreen) in Sioux Lookout, sister, Betty (Tom Morben) of 100 Mile House, daughters, Phyll (Al Thompson) and Trish (Allan Andres) of Kelowna and son, Doug (Karen) Beebe of Lethbridge. He is survived by his grandchildren, Ron and Douglas Hann, Michelle McColl, Shannon (Sean) Murphy, Kelly (Carl) Jensen, Will (Irena) Thompson, Dan Wieteska, also grandchildren, Danny (Naomi) Beebe, Clay (Lori) Beebe, and Bradley Beebe, and their mother Jean Beebe.

No service at this time. Interment of ashes will take place at a later date in a family plot in Thunder Bay.
