BARTEL, Lil
BARTEL, Lil

BARTEL, Lil - Of Kelowna BC, beloved wife of Vern Bartel, was surrounded in love with her family at her bedside as she peacefully went home to her Lord Jesus on Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the age of 68 after being diagnosed with a brain tumor in May.

In addition to Vern, Lil leaves to cherish her memory her daughter Renae (Greg) Hall and their children, Taylor and Kaden; son Regan (Diana) Bartel and their children Jace and Connell. As the youngest in her family, she is also survived by 9 siblings and their families and was predeceased by her parents and a brother.

Lil was born in Radville, Saskatchewan on July 28, 1939 and grew up in Brandon, Manitoba. She and Vern were married June 11, 1960 and spent many years in Swift Current. In addition to being a very special wife, mother, and grandma, Lil was very active in her church and worked as a secretary for the Government of Saskatchewan until her retirement in 2002. She and Vern moved to Kelowna BC to be closer to their kids.

She enjoyed travelling, singing, shopping, hockey games, going for coffee, getting together with friends and most of all, time spent with her family. She enjoyed the past few winters in Arizona and the opportunity to make new friends from across the country. Lil’s deep faith in Jesus was very evident in her last weeks in the hospice. Reciting scripture, singing and praying were very special to her during this time. Vern and their family have many precious memories to cherish and look forward to their reunion in heaven.

A private family interment will take place at the Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery and a Memorial Service will be held at Willow Park Church 439 Highway 33 W, Kelowna on Thursday July 10, 2008 at 2:00 p.m..

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Holding Hands for Hospice, 202-1456 St. Paul Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2E6 or to the MCC would be greatly appreciated.
