BALL, Kenneth

On Sunday, January 6, 2019, long time Okanagan resident, Kenneth passed away at Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 97 years surrounded by his family. Kenneth was born in 1921 in Brock Saskatchewan and is predeceased by his parents Nellie and Harry Ball, Mother-In-Law and Father-In-Law, Dora and Hugh Garven, brother Walter, sister-in-law Jean (Gordon), brother-in-law Donald Garven and sister-in-law Delores (McGowan), sister June (Hyland) and brother-in-law Howard.

Kenneth will be lovingly remembered by his family, wife Dorothy (Garven) of West Kelowna, his four daughters, Dianne (Lester Ouchi) of Vernon, Kenna, Laurie (David Paynter) of West Kelowna and their children Aaron, Lisa (Pip Akins), great grandchildren, Eloise and Oliver of Westbank and Mary Kay (Tom Polacco) and grandson Christopher of Rutland.

Kenneth met Dorothy Garven in Weyburn Saskatchewan and were married on April 5, 1944. They celebrated 74 years of marriage in 2018. He joined the RCAF as a flight instructor in 1941 and was discharged in October 1945.

Ken will be remembered as an excellent gardener and cook as well as avid sportsman, having been a hunter, fisherman, baseball & hockey player and curler. He played hockey with the 1948 Vernon Eagles on the awesome line known as Ball, Ford and Poggemiller. Ken worked for the Hudson’s Bay Company for many years and in retirement worked for Symak of Montreal.

No funeral service by request, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
