BADGLEY, James Albert, ‘Jim’
October 14, 1920 - May 13, 2011

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Jim, on May 13, 2011, aged 90. He will be sorrowfully missed by his loving wife Pat; three children: Leigh of Vancouver, Geoff (Leila) of Maple Ridge, Gary of Victoria; three grandchildren: Kyle, Ryan, and Tyler; sister Betty (Bill) of White Rock; brother Dennis (Carole) of North Vancouver; nieces and nephews: Wendy, Lyn, Piper, Suzan and Ron, and sister-in-law, Clare.

Born in Vancouver and raised in Melfort, Saskatchewan, Jim briefly attended the University of Saskatchewan as an engineering student until the outbreak of WWII, when he joined the RCAF.

Our father is a hero. As a B-24 Liberator captain, Jim and his crew flew 36 dangerous missions over the Bay of Bengal until his squadron was disbanded in 1945. While in the UK with the RAF, Jim met his British wife-to-be, Pat, who was serving in the RCAF women’s division. They were married for 63 years.

Jim and Pat settled in West Point Grey, Vancouver, where Jim owned and operated a successful real estate firm. They retired to Westbank and spent many happy, sun-filled winters in Arizona, California and Mexico.
Jim was a family man, loving husband, successful businessman and kind friend. He was always extremely proud to have done his duty for his country. He will be missed.

Private Arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Cancer Clinic for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC V1Y 5L3 – 250-712-3900 or your charity of choice.
