Art left Saskatchewan after he was discharged from the army in 1946. He spent many years working in bars around Alberta. In 1958 he came to the West Coast. He married in 1959 and in 1970 he realized his dream of owning a hotel. He started with the Lorne Hotel in Comox and then the Civic Hotel in Nelson for 10 years. He then owned the Elk River Inn in Hosmer for a few years. He moved to Kelowna in 1988 and loved his retirement here.

He was a member of the Kalano Club and put in many hours volunteering at the club. He also loved to join the coffee group in the mornings at the A&W to discuss the problems of the world. Art was always quick with a joke and laugh.

The memorial service will be Wednesday December 1 at p.m. at First Memorial at 1211 Sutherland Ave.

In lieu of flowers donations are gratefully accepted for the Kalano Club, 2108 Vasile Road, Kelowna, BC.

Art was a great guy and he loved to tell jokes. He helped me build my wife's art studio and I gave my wife a metal cat for her studio and she named him Art after your dad.

    All the best,

    Our condolences to Art's Family,

Art was a long time member and served on the Executive of the Kelowna Singles Club and we also enjoyed his sense of humour when we saw him at the Legion & Army & Navy Clubs. We saw him a few weeks ago having coffee at the Capri and he was taking one day at a time.

We will miss seeing him at the Clubs.

    Ian & Charlotte
