ALBRECHT, Hilda

ALBRECHT, Hilda

April 7, 1937 – September 16, 2022

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our mother, Hilda Albrecht. Hilda passed away peacefully with family by her side on September 16, 2022, at Kelowna General Hospital. She now rests in her heavenly home with the Lord.

Hilda was born in her grandparent’s farmhouse in Grossoltbrueck, Germany on April 7, 1937, to Herman and Lydia Korsch and was the oldest of five children.

Hilda spent her childhood in Germany and eventually came over to Canada with her family at the age of 21. While in Germany she was involved with choirs and youth groups that allowed her to travel and it was there where her love for the Lord began. Hilda was trained as a tailor in Germany and enjoyed making clothes, but her specialty was alterations, and she was amazing at it. When the family came over in 1958, Hilda first worked as a nanny and then worked for Tutt’s Tailor Shop. She continued her sewing career by opening her own business called Rutland Tailor Shop. For many years she provided high quality alterations for a large number of stores around Kelowna until her retirement in 2010.

Hilda married the love of her life Egon Albrecht in September of 1964, they shared fifty-two wonderful years together. During that time, they were blessed with three wonderful children, six grandchildren and this last year she received her first great grandchild. Her family was her joy.

Hilda is survived by her children Emanuel Albrecht (Nadine), Monica Ewert (Ken), and Marlene Gauntley (Thomas). Her grandchildren Jordan Ewert, Brayden Ewert, Jenny Trott (Tim), Gabrielle Albrecht, Andrew Gauntley, Matthias Gauntley, and her great grandchild Henry Trott. Hilda is also survived by her brothers Werner (Hannah), Egon (Adelheid), and Otto (Gisela).

Hilda was predeceased by her loving husband of 52 years, Egon in 2016, her brother Heinz and her parents.

Hilda will be remembered for her quick wit, her beautiful smile, amazing hair, her great sense of style, and her cheeky one liners. However, she will be remembered most of all for her love of family, friends and especially JESUS. She will truly be missed.

We would like to thank Dr. Davidson for his care over the years and Dr. Dessen and the beyond wonderful nursing staff at KGH in her final days and the staff at Cottonwoods short stay.

An internment ceremony will be held on Thursday, September 29, 2022 12:00pm at the Kelowna Municipal Cemetery followed thereafter by a Celebration of Life service at 1:00pm at Kelowna Gospel Fellowship, 3714 Gordon Drive, Kelowna BC.

Dear Monica, Ken, Jordan, and Brayden,

I am so sorry for the loss of your mother and grandmother. Your mum was an incredible lady. I remember standing still while she pinned bridesmaid dresses, and other dresses and skirts, all the while laughing with her. Not only was she talented, she was lovely, and very funny.

Monica you were such a great daughter, and such a blessing to your parents. I know they appreciated all you did for them.

Rest well Mrs. A your journey here is done, and you are enjoying your eternal reward with your husband. What an incredible couple you made. - Cyndy Mymka

Butch, Monica, and Marlene. So sorry for the loss of your mother. She was a wonderful friend to me in my teenage years. On my 16th birthday she gave me an onyx brooch which I still treasure. Also she was my only girl cousin. So sad but we will meet again.

    Dear Monica, Marlene and Butch

We were so saddened to hear of Tante Hilda's homegoing.

She will be remembered fondly for her smile, her beautiful voice, and of course her baking. We didn't see each other often but anytime I did, she was always so engaging, and understanding and 'modern' in her way of thinking - I loved that.

Our thoughts and our prayers are with you as you navigate this time now without her. We too know she is with her Lord and Uncle Egon - we love you - Dave & Doreen - Doreen Lange

    Dear Monica, Marlene and Butch

Some of my earliest memories of your mom were her amazing baking skills and sewing skills… it was always great to visit when we were young and visit/play with you and see what amazing treat your mom would make for dessert. Uncle Egon was so fortunate to have her/you by his side as his health declined and have you by her side as her health declined… Even from my distance away, I could sense the love. To be remembered for love is no small thing…. Love and long distance hugs from Lori (and my daughter Brenda) - Lori Weber

Dear Monica, Marlene, Butch & families,

Our sympathies are with you on the earthly loss of Tante Hilda, but our celebrations are with her as she is now healed and with our Redeemer. Oh what a day when we will all see Jesus and are reunited with all of our loved ones that have gone on before us.

    Isaiah 51:11 (NLT)

Those who have been ransomed by the Lord will return. They will enter Jerusalem singing, crowned with everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be filled with joy and gladness.

We love you guys and our prayers are with you during this difficult time. - Dan & Nicole
