Authorities are attempting to rescue people from a flooded house north of Phoenix after several inches of rain pummeled the state.
Residents of the house gazed out of an open window as floodwaters raged around the home in New River and a rescue helicopter hovered overhead. A rescuer on the roof later worked to pull trapped residents to safety.
A separate rescue played out as water submerged a minivan and authorities pulled a woman from the vehicle.
Several inches of rain fell on the Phoenix area Tuesday morning, closing a portion of the major north-south freeway in Arizona.
