Baby monitor hack
An Ohio couple was woken up in the middle of the night to the sound of a man screaming inside their daughter’s nursery recently. As it turns out, the man could have been anywhere because he had hacked into their baby monitor, according to local news reports.
Heather Schreck woke around midnight and grabbed her cellphone to check the Internet-based baby monitor in her daughter’s nursery. She then heard a man’s voice screaming “wake up baby, wake up” followed by one long scream, she told a local television station.
Schreck and her husband ran into the nursery, at which point the man’s voice began yelling obscenities.
Experts warn that Internet-based monitors are vulnerable to being hacked, and advise parents to change their Wi-Fi passwords regularly.
