Brazen beer thief
Police say an upstate New York man was arrested after he stole more than 50 cases of beer from the same store over the course of a week.
The Post-Star of Glens Falls reports that 24-year-old Shawn P. Cheney was jailed Friday after workers at a store in Queensbury recognized him from surveillance video.
Police said Cheney stole 10 cases of beer Friday and had taken about 40 cases earlier in the week.
Authorities said he simply loaded the beer into shopping carts and pushed the carts out the front door during busy periods.
Police said Cheney's car was loaded with 30-packs of beer.
He was arrested on charges including grand larceny and driving while impaired.
It was not clear if he had an attorney.
