Wine: Chenin Blanc, 2017

Winery: Road 13, Oliver - Osoyoos

Why drink it? Road 13 has several Chenins, this one is the “Chip off the Old Block," a lighter version of its Old Vines Chenin. Bright and vibrant, pour a glass and give it a good swirl, then explore the enticing tropical nose of guava, quince, lemon rind, freshly picked peaches, and light floral notes. The complexity carries through to the flavours, as the quince element meets tart citrus and green apples, honey, and perhaps a bit of freshly cut grass. The finish is long and refreshing, and with each sip you’ll find another fresh layer for your taste buds to explore.

Price: $18

Pair with: Enjoy with just about anything that comes fresh from the ocean: raw oysters, sushi, spot prawns (now in season). Some salmon or trout from the grill with a light treatment of ginger, with a side of grilled or roasted cauliflower drizzled in olive oil and sprinkled with toasted pine nuts.

Music pairing: Fastlove by George Michael
