Special: Saturday's music spotlight

Ryan Donn Review: Rifflandia

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to go to one of BC's largest gathers of independent and established bands - Rifflandia. It was founded in Victoria in 2008. Since then it has grown to become an epic sampling of music. In 2012 it was spread over four days featuring over 120 acts.

In the video below I offer a highlight of Riffllandia including interviews with Family of Year, Christopher Smith, Carmanah, and Zerbin.  It's a full 25 minute + show, so in the spirit of Rifflandia (which they dub as a "choose your own adventure" festival) In the video I've listed the various times that the acts are performing so that you can skip through the show as you please. Enjoy discovering some great new music.

Show Schedule

  • Carmanah                  5:00
  • Jordan Klassen         6:15
  • Jinja Safari                 8:00
  • Zerbin                        12:00
  • Family of the year    18:00
  • Dan Magnan             22:00

Send us a note, to [email protected], if you want to see more musical features like this on Castanet. Enjoy the show.
