30K Club Bikeathon fundraiser

The 30K Club at Kelowna’s Gospel Mission is excited to announce its 4th Annual Bikeathon.

Bikeathon is a 15 or 30 km ride that takes place June 16, 2012 at the Mission Park Greenway.

The event is a fundraiser for the 30K Club: a monthly donor program which supports services offered to Kelowna’s Gospel Mission clients who are taking steps to transition from dependence to independence.

This year, Belgian national cycling champion and Olympic medalist, Axel Merckx, will be a guest rider in the Bikeathon!  As you may have heard, Axel now lives in the Okanagan and hosts his own event, the Valley First Granfondo Axel Merckx Okanagan.

“We are absolutely elated Axel Merckx has agreed to be our guest rider at Bikeathon. Axel has shown dedication to charities through his own event and we are pleased to have his support for the 30K Bikeathon. Our ride is great timing because it is only 4 weeks before Axel’s Granfondo so we are thinking of it as a bit of a pre-warm up for him and those who are going to ride in Axel’s event.”

30K Club Bikeathon is a non–competitive, family friendly, fun event suitable for all ages and abilities. Riders can register online to ride and gather team-mates and pledges to help us reach our goal of $30,000.

All proceeds from the Bikeathon will go to the 30K Club.

So we encourage Okanagan residents to Gear UP! Join 30K and Axel Merckx on June 16th!
