Kelowna Fan Xpo

Last year as part of the promotion for a superhero play Bonnie Gratz and Joe Welton decided to do a mini comic-con type event. They expected about 30 people and ended up with over 200. Needless to say this year the Kelowna Fan Xpo is now very much the focus.
For those just catching up to speed the Fan Xpo is modelled after Comic-Con events that happen around the world. They are a celebration of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, movies and more.
In hindsight it makes sense that this event took off. Between Disney Interactive, Yeti Farm Creative,  and Bardel Entertainment Kelowna is becoming a hub of animation and creative industries.
This year KFX 2015 will take place on March 21, 2015, 11am-10pm at the Kelowna Community Theatre, The Black Box Theatre, Okanagan Regional Library, and the Delta Grand. Tickets can be bought here: www.selectyourtickets.com. The cost is $20 in advance for all venues while buying at the door will cost you $30.
The best information about the event seems to be on their Facebook page  (https://www.facebook.com/KelownaFanXpo) and although the final schedule hasn't been released yet here is a general idea of your venue/activity options on March 21st.
Kelowna Community Theatre stage will feature celebrity guests, panels, Q/A's, live performances. The Grand Fan Zone (at the Delta Grand) will feature various CosPlays, video game features, and special guests

As was the case last year, Kelowna’s John Delaney, artist for graphic novels of The Simpsons as well as past artist behind Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman and Scooby Doo, will be one of the many prominent artists featured at this year’s festival. He will be set up alongside some animation screenings, Cosplay photo shoots, fantasy facepainting and more at the BlackBox Theatre.
The Disney Interactive Artist Alley at Okanagan Regional Library,12-6pm will feature Kids Draw, Photo booth, comic jam, anime, and more.
Here is my interview with the dynamic duo Bonnie Gatz and Joe Welton:
