Light Up! What you need to know

Our business communities in Rutland and Downtown Kelowna are both planning Light Up! events for this weekend.

The 25th Annual Downtown Kelowna Light Up! happens on Saturday, Dec 7th, from 11-7pm throughout the downtown core.

The Uptown Rutland Christmas Tree Light Up happens on Sunday, Dec 8th, 4-6pm at Roxby Park.

Its great to see our credit unions support these events. Interior Savings is the title sponsor for the Downtown Light Up while Valley First is the title sponsor for the Rutland Christmas Tree Light up. As mentioned last column its tough for any event to stand the test of time so having our local credit unions support these events does help

One of the highlight events at the Downtown Kelowna Light Up! are the children’s performers Bob’s and Lolo. Ryan Watters recently interviewed them about their songs, show on Treehouse, and experiences in Kelowna. Here is the audio from that interview.

They perform at 4:15pm at Kerry Park on Saturday:

About the Author

Ryan Donn is a singer/songwriter, event producer, digital creative, and Councillor at the City of Kelowna

I love creating songs, which have been used by the Terry Fox Run, Kelowna’s Centennial Celebration, or heard on various local radio stations.

In the past few years, I've focused on creating community events including Music in the Park, New York New Years, Castanet’s Free Family Skate, Talented Kids, Talented Kelowna, and others.

Originally from Scotland, I’ve lived in Kelowna for over 20 years. My wife, Kimberly, and our two daughters, Lyla and Bella, share our home with Tom (adult with diverse abilities).

In 2014, I was elected to Kelowna City Council.

Opinions are my own, and don't represent the City of Kelowna, Festivals Kelowna or Creative Okanagan.
