Highway horse rescue

It's something you don't see everyday, a horse galloping down Highway 97. But on Friday that's exactly what commuters witnessed on bridge hill.
A horse on a highway rarely has a chance, but in this case a guardian angel stepped up and saved the horse from the traffic, and the traffic from the horse.
She doesn't want to be called a horse whisperer and she was too shy to give us her last name, but she is a horse's hero and so are the two men who pitched in to help.
'This horse was beautiful!," writes Ashley.
"When I saw the horse running down the road I asked my husband to stop as I thought it would have been hit. I have had experience training horses as a youth so I thought I could help. I grabbed a string out of my trunk and warped it around it's neck. I then lured it with grass to jump the meridian. After having the horse out of harm's way I left it with a local horse farmer, who had called for a trailer. I would like to thank the two men who stopped and helped control the horse while in the middle of rush hour traffic where tractor trailers were speeding by freaking this horse to its limits."
The photos sent to us also show other woman helping out, also stopping traffic and even using their vehicle to block the exit so the horse could not get back on 97.
Daniel Chailler is a local horse farmer who lives on Boucherie Road. On Friday he was told that one of his horses was possibly running loose on the highway.
After doing a head count of his herd, he realized the horse was not one of his but decided to help rein the animal in.
"My wife Diane went with grain and halter to hold the animal while I brought down a horse trailer to haul it home till we found the owners," said Daniel.
He found out that the owners are from Ogden Road and were in the process of building or repairing a fence when it escaped.
"We delivered the horse to its home. Luckily, the animal was not injured and it did not cause an accident."
