West Kelowna Warriors Junior Hockey Club has thousands of reasons to celebrate.... more than 6,000 to be exact.
The West Kelowna Warriors are proud to announce that more than $6000 was raised at the 1st Alumni Golf/Hockey Weekend presented by Tim Hortons. The event will be held annually in coming years.
Exactly $6372.83 was left after paying all the bills to host the three-day hockey and golf event held in June.
The entire organization would like to thank all the sponsors, participants, volunteers, and of course past players & coaches who made the Alumni Weekend possible.
Money raised will be split amongst West Kelowna Minor Hockey, West Kelowna KidSport, and the new Warriors Alumni Fund, while $2686.41 will go to KidSport to help local youth play sports in our community.
The same amount will go to West Kelowna Minor Hockey to help them make the name change process easier this year.
Finally, $1000 will go to the new Warriors Alumni Fund operated by former Captain’s Max French & Joel Woznikoski.
Each year a current player on the Warriors roster, who is going to college, can apply through Joel & Max for a $500 bursary. While the other $500 will go to a former Warriors player currently playing at the collegiate level.
Andrew Deans, Warriors director of operations and tournament director, will be joined by Max French and Justin Schultz to make the cheque presentation to Minor Hockey & KidSport Sunday afternoon during the annual hockey swap happening at Ultimate Hockey & Skate at 9:30am.
The Hockey Swap happens from 8:30am-1pm on Sunday with proceeds going to KidSport.
Later Sunday night the Warriors open the exhibition schedule versus the Penticton Vees at Royal LePage Place. Game time is 7pm. Admission is $5 a ticket, but free if you are a season ticket holder.
The Warriors close the exhibition schedule at home on Saturday, August 31 versus the Vernon Vipers beginning at 7pm.
