West Kelowna to hold annual meeting
Feb 16, 2013 / 12:17 pm
The West Kelowna Residents' Association will hold its Annual General Meeting at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, March 27th at the Lions Hall.
The theme of this year's AGM is: Westside Urgent Care Centre - How Far Have We Progressed? In answer to that question residents will first hear from Mr. Jim Zaffino, the District's Controller, explaining: “How Taxes Relate to Services”. Mr Zaffino will be followed by Ms. Joanne Konnert, Health Care Consultant to the District of West Kelowna. Ms. Konnert will provide: “An Update on Westside Health Care Concerns and Developments”.
Following the two presentations, residents will have the opportunity to ask questions of the two keynote speakers.
All residents of the Westside, and any interested parties, are welcome to attend the AGM. There is no admission fee, however donations towards the Association's expenses are welcome, as are residents who may wish to join the Association.
During the past several months the Association's Health and Safety Sub-committee has been working to support Ms. Konnert in the execution of her contract with the District of West Kelowna, by providing local information on existing health care providers in West Kelowna and Peachland. In addition, the Association has completed a major survey project to acquire feedback from residents and medical personnel that identifies critical gaps in health care on the Westside. The residents who participated provided excellent inputs for the Association's Survey Report, which was passed to Ms Konnert, and which listed the perceived health care gaps and health problems on the Westside.
The Association continues to work with the consultant and the District to improve available services, recognizing that costs are a major factor in providing and sustaining those increased services. In addition to identifying service gaps, the Association has sought to ensure that the latest methods in applying health care technology are identified, in order to reduce or control health care costs wherever possible.
