Searching the woods
RCMP have now been joined by Central Okanagan Search and Rescue in attempting to locate a person who may be in distress in the hills above the log boom on Westside Road.
A woman taking pictures along the road Tuesday morning says she heard someone yelling for help and blowing a distress whistle from up in the hills.
She says she called back and the person immediately blew the whistle in response.
A second witness who was fishing off the log boom also indicated he heard the same sounds coming from the woods.
Three RCMP officers spent more than an hour in the hillside, however, the first officer to return says they were unable to see or hear anything.
A team from Central Okanagan Search and Rescue were gathering in the area in preparation to launch their own search.
RCMP tried to deploy a helicopter to aid in the search, however, it was called back due to excessive wind.
An ambulance is also standing by in case someone is brought down.
Wayne Moore files this video from the scene.
