There was a large response by the West Kelowna Fire Department after they received an early morning call to a mobile home fire in the 1,900 Block of Highway 97 South near Daimler Drive.

Around 3:00 a.m. Sunday, 23 firefighters, including one Chief Officer and two Safety Officers, along with three Engines and a Water Tender arrived to find one unit well involved and threatening to spread to the neighbour's home next door.

The RCMP,  BC Ambulance, BC Hydro and FortisBC were also called to the scene.

Assistant Chief Darren Lee says the initial arriving crews were able to protect exposures and get the main body of fire within the home knocked down.

When firefighters entered the home to search for the residents of the home, they discovered the fire had spread into the roof space and also burned through the floor in multiple locations.

That meant they had to pull back until they could bring the fire in the roof space under control.

Firefighters were then able to search the home and confirm that no one was inside at the time of the fire.

A single crew remained on scene throughout the night, conducting a fire watch procedure.

The cause of the fire is unknown, however late Sunday morning Fire Inspectors were still conducting their investigation.
