The Evacuation Alert for properties in Wilson's Landing has been rescinded.

The BC Wildfire Management Branch has determined the immediate threat has passed for the properties on evacuation alert since Monday, July 30.

The alert was rescinded at the same time the Kamloops Fire Centre announced the fire was 100 per cent contained.

"Seventy firefighters are continuing to mop-up the smouldering ground fire. Smoke may be visible for a number of days as crews continue to work toward the centre of the burnt area," says Fire Information Officer, Kayla Pepper.

"Today crews and two helicopters will deliver water to extinguish hot spots within the fire perimeter. Firefighters from throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre have worked in challenging conditions to re-establish containment on the steep terrain."

The fire was contained to about four hectares Sunday night, however, strong winds and fallen debris allowed the fire to jump the fire guard.

At the height of the fire, it reached nearly 27 hectares in size.

If the situation changes, further information will be issued or visit the RDCO Emergency website at www.cordemergency.ca .
