The operator of Whiplash Cable Wake Park is hopeful he can re-open by Friday.

The park was shut down nearly two weeks ago by the provincial government after it was determined the park had been operating without the appropriate licencing and tenure in place.

Conrad Wiker, CEO of the venture, says he is waiting for one more document from the government. He hopes to have that piece of paper within the next day or so.

Wiker hopes it will come in time to re-open in time for the weekend.

The Wake Park is located near the old ferry wharf on the northwest side of the William R. Bennett Bridge.

Westbank First Nation hold a commercial water lease for the area and Wiker was led to believe all he needed to operate was a lease from WFN.

That turned out not to be the case.

Wiker had been operating for a couple of weeks before the province temporarily shut down the operation while the correct paperwork could be obtained.

Steve Thomson,  Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations, told Castanet News he had instructed his staff to make the revisions to the tendering a top priority.
