Million dollar winner sold in Westbank
Jul 8, 2012 / 10:17 am
There might be a consolation prize for someone on the Westside after last Friday's $50 million Lotto-Max jackpot was won in Quebec.
The big prize had gone unclaimed for the previous three weekly draws, meaning there were also more "MaxMillions" prizes, draws worth $1 million, up for grabs
Fifty $1-million prizes were drawn for, and there are winning tickets for 17 of those prizes.
LottoBC says three of those 17 were sold in BC, including one in Westbank.
They report one ticket with the numbers 7, 8, 10, 28, 46, 47, 48 was sold to someone in the Westbank area and is worth $1 million.
What's not known is if the person is even from the Okanagan. With so many people travelling through the valley in the days leading up to the draw, there's no guarantee the purchase was made by a local resident.
The $100-million in total prize money in Friday's draw was the most since Lotto Max was launched in 2009.
