West Kelowna RCMP tracked down a car thief Friday morning.
"This morning, the Westside members spotted a stolen vehicle in downtown Westbank," says RCMP Cst. Sean Lloyd. "We lost sight of it, but shortly thereafter we spotted it again."
This time the vehicle was heading northbound towards Kelowna on Highway 97.
"Officers that were conducting a speed trap near the construction zone spotted it and attempted to stop it."
The vehicle ran the speed trap and made its way down bridge hill to Campbell Road.
At that point, the two occupants, a man and a woman, abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
"Shortly thereafter our Police Dog Services Unit arrived and managed to locate the two occupants a fair distance away," says Lloyd.
Once the police closed in on the pair, they were apprehended without incident.
