Jessie Lalonde last saw her brother Tuesday, January 17.
When she went to check on him the following afternoon, the door to Andrew Lalonde's mobile home was unlocked, the TV was on and he was no where to be found.
Lalonde's car was still in the driveway. His wallet and cell phone remained inside.
The 30-year-old West Kelowna man, with a history of alcohol abuse and mental illness, has not been seen since.
"I think a lot of what he was experiencing and the behaviour I saw from him on Tuesday night was just detoxing from that, hearing voices and hallucinating," says Jessie Lalonde in describing the last time she saw her brother.
"He was very fearful when I last saw him. Worried that people were after him. I'm worried he's scared, I'm worried he's hurt himself."
She says her brother isn't working although he is still actively drinking. She says he just came off a seven day binge.
An extensive search of the mobile home park on Boucherie Road where Lalonde lived and the surrounding area was conducted over the weekend with no success.
The search effort has been concluded pending further information.
Jessie Lalonde says she arrived at her brother's home around 4 p.m. Wednesday to find it empty.
Neighbours say they saw him walking toward Boucherie Road earlier in the afternoon.
"I would have thought that if he had left with nothing, he would have been fearful. I thought he would have been running, startled, anxious or something. If he's just calmly walking down the street, to me that's more disconcerting."
Lalonde and his family moved to Kelowna several years ago from Calgary in an effort to get Andrew help with his drinking addiction.
He was also in Victoria until about a year ago when he moved back to the Okanagan.
"We're kind of just numb, we're shocked. We've seen some bizarre behaviour over and over again but this is much more extreme, much more unusual. For him to leave without his wallet, keys, smokes, it's really bizarre," says Jessie Lalonde.
"He's such a nice person usually. He worries about his looks and appearance and when I last saw him he looked really unwell."
She has this message for her brother.
"We just love him so much. I just want him to come home safe. I don't want him to feel shame or guilt or embarrassed or anything. I just want him to come home.
Lalonde is 30 years old. He's 5'9" and 176 pounds with short brown hair and brown eyes.
Anyone who has seen Andrew Lalonde is asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
