West Kelowna residents have a chance to make their feelings known on proposed transit exchange locations in Westbank and Boucherie Centre during an open house Wednesday, January 25.
The open house will be held at the Westbank Lions Community Centre from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
"West Kelowna Council is faced with making an important decision regarding RapidBus Transit exchange locations in our community. It is vital that we hear from the members of the public who are impacted including current and future users, as well as business people and property owners in the areas being considered," says West Kelowna Mayor, Doug Findlater.
"Please attend this important information meeting and tell us what you think or submit your comments online."
BC Transit, building on the success of Phase one of RapidBus, is extending the network from Kelowna to Westbank Centre through phases two and three of the project.
The project includes creation of two new transit exchanges with enhanced bus services, branded shelters and passenger information displays in West Kelowna as part of the implementation.
"It is important that the local community has had the opportunity to provide comments on the RapidBus project," says BC Transit President and CEO, Manuel Achadinha.
"Successful transit requires the input of the community."
BC Transit and the municipality are asking residents to comment on the conceptual designs and locations proposed for the transit exchanges.
The project team will use this feedback to ensure the recommended options reflect the vision of the local community.
The exchanges, located at Westbank Centre and Boucherie Centre, are expected to bring greatly improved transit service and customer amenities to West Kelowna, while providing a boost to the Westbank Centre revitalization vision.
Residents are encouraged to provide feedback at the open house or online at www.bctransit.com/trtansitfuture.
