Red Scorpion busted with guns

On June 10 at around 6:30 p.m., a Black Chrysler Sedan was stopped by members of the RCMP's Drug Unit as it entered the Hwy 97 Connector.

As a result of information obtained, the vehicle's 23-year-old male driver and female passenger, both of Coquitlam, were arrested.

The vehicle was searched and a loaded 9mm handgun was found in a bag on the back seat.

A bottle of what is believed to be GHB, a known date rape drug, was seized as was $5000 cash.

In the trunk area, 1500 rounds of AK47 ammunition was found, including a high capacity "banana" magazine that was loaded with 30 rounds of ammunition.

Cole Wyatt Smith and Danielle Ehmann are both charged.

More firearms and drug related charges are expected.

Both were remanded in custody with a future court appearance via video-conference.

Both of the accused are known to police.
