Over 500 family members and friends gathered Saturday afternoon at Emmanuel Assembly in West Kelowna to remember Ashlee Hyatt.
Hyatt was killed in a fatal stabbing at a party in Peachland on Wednesday, June 2.
She was only 16-years-old.
Standing behind a large black and white photograph of Hyatt, with her twinkling eyes and engaging smile, friends and classmates shared memories of their time with her.
She was remembered for her passion for the outdoors, music, and love for any celebration.
Hyatt's alleged killer, also a 16-year-old female, has been granted bail after being charged with first-degree murder.
A petition has been started by Hyatt's friends, who are upset that the alleged killer was granted bail.
The petition asks for stronger and stricter sentencing and urges the courts to prosecute violent offenders as adults.
The petition will be made available to the public Sunday at the corner of Main Street and Brown Road in West Kelowna from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
