Glenrosa fire 40% contained
The Ministry of Forests says the Glenrosa Fire is now 40% contained while the Terrace Mountain fire near Fintry has grown to about 850 hectares in size.
The ministry's latest update at 6 p.m. Sunday says, "The wildfire is now 40% contained, with a dozer guard in place from Highway 97 to Gates. A water delivery system is also in place to protect this line."
The fire is still estimated at about 350 hectares.
125 firefighters, 10 helicopters and 8 air tankers are currently actioning the fire.
Meantime, the fire at Terrace Mountain, about 20 km west of Fintry, has grown to about 850 hectares in size.
The ministry says, "Due to very aggressive fire behaviour this afternoon and early evening, the fire is now estimated at 850 hectares. There are still no structures threatened by the fire."
70 firefighters and four helicopters are working that fire.
The fire remains under investigation, however, the Ministry of Forests says the fire was human caused.
The third fire in the region, the Rose Valley Dam Fire remains at approximately 150 hectares in size.
Ministry officials say retardant lines have been laid around 90% of the fire.
The Rose Valley Fire is suspected to be human caused, however, the cause is still under investigation.
