Police confirm dead body

UPDATE: 2:40 p.m.

RCMP say they have identified a West Kelowna man in his 50s who died suddenly near a parked RV on Louie Drive across from the CIBC.

Police and the BC Coroners Service are investigating the circumstances surrounding the man's death.

Emergency crews were called to the area for an unresponsive and unconscious male by a civilian.

Efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

“At this time, criminality is not suspected in the man's death and the BC Coroners Service is also investigating,” said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

The man's name is not being released. Efforts are being made to notify his next of kin.

UPDATE: 12:15 p.m.

Police at the scene confirm a dead body has been removed from the parking lot area near the Westside Walmart.

Police were seen with an evidence bag full of pill bottles, and appear to be wrapping up at the scene, which is behind the Chatters Salon building.

They say the death was not suspicious.

Staff inside the salon say people camp in RVs there frequently, and that the motorhome and a white car pulled in there last night.

Both vehicles have been towed from the scene.

UPDATE: 11:50 a.m.

A witness who passed the scene earlier this morning, says she saw a fire truck and ambulance there about 8:15 a.m.

First responders were performing CPR on a shirtless man on the ground outside an RV near the Westside Walmart store.

Castanet has a reporter headed to the scene.

ORIGINAL: 11:45 a.m.

Police have a possible crime scene surrounded on Westbank First Nation land, near the Walmart store.

Witnesses tell Castanet police have been on the scene for about two and a half hours.

Four police cruisers are there, at the east side of the Walmart building, near the Swiss Chalet restaurant.

Three of the vehicles are parked bumper to bumper, blocking the scene of something on the ground that is covered by a white tarp, leading to speculation there may be a dead body.

One witness says a motorhome was parked in the area earlier, but has been moved to a different spot.
