CycleKarts invade Westside

The annual Westside Daze festival, which begins Friday, will host the Canadian Grand Prix of Cycle Karts.

Held around the world, this will apparently be the first CycleKart Grand Prix held in Canada.

CycleKarts are classic or antique-styled handmade vehicles similar to a go-cart.

Three different events are scheduled in West Kelowna, including a grand prix, drag race exhibition, and gravity race simulation.

There will be some traffic interruptions around the parade route to accommodate the racers Saturday afternoon.

Westside Daze will also be welcoming Big West Wrestling for a pair of shows at 2:30 and 6 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Park. A trunk sale and night market is scheduled for the field beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday.

While there will be no midway this year, Westside Daze still features a number of traditional events packed into a fun-filled weekend at Memorial Park.

The family themed weekend includes free evening concerts Friday and Saturday, the annual parade Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Kid's Fair and Okanagan Day Saturday afternoon at Memorial Park, fireworks Saturday evening at Gellatly Bay, Community Worship Celebration and Classic Car Show Sunday.

Evening concerts feature Experience Tribute to Santana Friday night, and West Kelowna country music star Ben Klick Saturday evening. Both shows begin at 8 p.m.

Westside Daze kicks off Friday evening, and runs through Sunday afternoon. Click here for the complete schedule.
