Hardy Falls park open

After more than two years a popular regional park is now open again.

Hardy Falls Regional Park has been closed due to damage caused by flooding a little more than two years ago but after repairs, the six-hectare park along Deep Creek in the south end of Peachland is once again welcoming visitors.

Record flooding in 2017 destroyed two of the eight bridges in the park and washed out trails.

Now thanks in part to money from the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program the destruction has been fixed.

The project cost $175,000 in total and saw the installation of two new bridges, hazardous trees and vegetation have been removed and the trail has been resurfaced.

Regional Board Chair Gail Given says “We appreciate the patience that everyone has shown in the time it’s taken to get Hardy Falls open again.  And we certainly thank the Province for its cooperation and Disaster Assistance Program funding to help us restore the park for visitors.”

Hardy Falls receives over 30,000 visitors every year.
