Pedestrian clipped by mirror

UPDATE: Thursday 10:30 a.m.

RCMP confirm a pedestrian was taken to hospital as a precaution, Wednesday night, after the teenager was struck by a vehicle in West Kelowna.

The female pedestrian was hit on the 1400 block of Parkinson Road, just before 9 p.m.

Police say the teen suddenly stepped out into the road in front of an oncoming Ford F-150 pickup and was struck by the side mirror.

The driver stopped to check on the well being of the youth, called police and remained on the scene.

The 13 year old was assessed by paramedics and taken to Kelowna General Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Police believe “reduced visibility in the area at the time, dark clothing and lack of full attention on the part of the pedestrian” contributed to the incident, says Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey.

Any witnesses are asked to contact West Kelowna RCMP at 250-768-2880.
